First Full-Fledged GiGO Arcade Opens in Shanghai

Major Japanese arcade operator GENDA GiGO Entertainment has officially opened its first full-scale amusement facility in Shanghai, marking a major step in bringing Japan’s game center culture overseas. The new location opened on March 27, 2026, inside Bailian ZX Chuangquchang (Bailian ZX creative centre), a shopping complex widely known as one of Shanghai’s key destinations for anime, gaming, and subculture fans.

A major milestone for GiGO in China

Operated by GENDA’s local subsidiary, GENDA Shanghai Co., the new arcade GiGO上海百聯ZX創趣場 represents a significant upgrade from the company’s earlier footprint in China.

Since 2025, GENDA Shanghai has been testing the market with smaller game corners, typically featuring fewer than 30 machines. This new venue, however, is its first large-scale, fully staffed amusement facility in mainland China.

The company also has operations in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and Vietnam.

What you can expect inside

Designed as an official GiGO concept shop, the 365 sq metre space brings together multiple elements of Japan’s arcade and pop culture scene under one roof.

Classic Japanese arcade experience

Just like its counterparts in Japan, the arcade features a wide range of machines, including crane games and other popular attractions. There are 66 machines, of which 56 are claw machines.

GiGO no Taiyaki

One of GiGO’s most recognizable food offerings has also made the jump overseas. The shop serves freshly made taiyaki — crispy on the outside, soft on the inside — along with limited-edition versions themed around popular anime and game characters.

Collaboration cafe

Fans can gather at an in-house collaboration café featuring rotating tie-ups with popular franchises, offering themed drinks and exclusive items.

Exclusive merchandise

A dedicated retail area sells official goods and limited-edition items, making it a must-visit for collectors.
